Mobile Temporary Shelter (MTS) Auburn
Mobile Temporary Shelter (MTS) is a low-barrier safe camping program in the city of Auburn operated by First Step Communities in Partnership with Placer County Probation. Mobile Temporary Shelter allows any Auburn residents experiencing homelessness to have a haven and to utilize all resources provided. All MTS clients are provided meals, water, showers, restrooms, an assigned tent, a cot, and storage bins for their personal belongings.
Many of our clients who have been experiencing homelessness for more than a year are considered chronically homeless. With experiencing chronic homelessness, many of our clients are in survival mode, protecting themselves and their belongings. Our staff's top priority is building rapport and ensuring all clients feel safe and supported. Each client of MTS will be assigned to a case manager to be educated and connected to community resources in hopes to get these individuals on their feet and to end their cycle of homelessness.
